A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to the maintenance by secondhand dealers of records indicating the origin of used automotive parts.

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:
Section 1. Section 20-273 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by relettering subdivision d as subdivision e, and adding a new subdivision d to read as follows:
d. In the case of a purchase of an automotive part, the licensee shall, in addition to any other entry required, enter in a permanent record proof that the seller of the part lawfully acquired such part, which proof may be in the form of a receipt for such part or a copy of the vehicle title or registration from which such part was taken.
�2. This local law shall take effect immediately.
