Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Subdivision a of section 24-224 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended to read as follows: (a) Except as otherwise provided in this section, no person shall engage in or permit any person to be engaged in construction activities in any zone other than on weekdays between the hours of seven a.m. and six p.m. A person may, however, engage in construction activities on one or two family dwellings, convents or rectories, which are classified in occupancy group J-3 as defined by section 27-266 of the administrative code, on Saturdays and Sundays between the hours of ten a.m. and four p.m. Such construction activities, however, must be located a distance of three hundred or more feet from a house of worship. �2. Section 24-224 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding thereto a new subdivision c to read as follows: (c) For the purposes of this section, "construction activities" shall include, but not be limited to, the operation, maintenance or preparation for operation of elevators, hoists, lifts, generators and any other device, equipment, tool or machinery directly used in construction, or the delivery of materials employed in construction. �3. This local law shall take effect immediately upon enactment.
