Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Chapter one of title 19 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 19-171 to read as follows: §19-171 Prohibition on operating motor vehicles with snow and ice. No person shall operate a motor vehicle on any street, road or highway unless all surfaces of the vehicle have been cleared of snow and ice within twelve hours after cessation of a snowfall. Failure to comply with this section shall be a traffic infraction punishable in accordance with section eighteen hundred of the vehicle and traffic law. This section shall not require the driver of a motor vehicle to cease operation while snow or ice is accumulating. §2. This local law shall take effect immediately. JH Resubmission - Int.
