Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Chapter 1 of title 21 of the administrative code of the city of New York is hereby amended by adding a new section 21-132 to read as follows: §21-132. Internet submission of applications for the food stamp program. a. Within one year of the effective date of the local law that added this section, the commissioner shall develop a procedure that enables applicants for the federal food stamp program to access and submit applications using the internet. b. To the extent that the requirement set forth in subdivision a of this section is subject to the approval of the state office of temporary and disability assistance or the united states department of agriculture or any other state or federal agency, the commissioner shall request such permission within 90 days of the effective date of the local law that added this section. §2.
