Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Chapter 3 of title 21 of the administrative code of the city of New York is hereby amended to add a new section 21-316 to read as follows: §21-316. Proof of domestic partnership recognized as evidence of the existence of a family unit. Two adults who can demonstrate that they have a valid certificate of domestic partnership registration issued under section 3-244 of the administrative code of the city of new york or a relationship recognized as a domestic partnership under section 3-245 of the administrative code of the city of new york, shall be considered a family unit for purposes of determining eligibility for shelter. §2. This local law shall take effect 3upon enactment. L.S. 40 J.D.S.
