Be it enacted by the Council as follows:
Section 1. Subchapter one of chapter one of title 19 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 19-112.1 to read as follows:
§19-112.1. Review of driveway curb cuts. a. The department shall conduct a survey of driveway curb cuts biennially to determine whether such curb cuts are inactive. A driveway curb cut shall be deemed inactive if such driveway does not extend beyond the lot line or into a garage.
b. Upon making a determination that a driveway curb cut is inactive, the department shall, within ninety days of such determination, working in conjunction with the department of parks and recreation when necessary, either restore such curb cut or install a bicycle rack or tree pit in such driveway.
§2. This local law shall take effect ninety days after it is enacted into law.
