Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Subdivision e of section 487 of chapter 19 of the New York City Charter is amended, to read as follows: e. The commissioner shall have the sole and exclusive power from time to time to designate and fix the location of all fire alarm telegraph, signal and alarm stations in the city, and shall have access to and control of the same for the purpose of the department. The commissioner shall maintain and operate a fire communication center in each borough that shall be the primary dispatch center for all fire and non-fire emergencies in that borough to which the Fire Department, including the Emergency Medical Service, is required to respond. §2. This local law shall take effect immediately upon enactment. LS # 5952 RC 12/10/08
