Be it enacted by the Council as follows:
Section 1. Subsection b of section 20-673.3 of the administrative code of the city of New York is hereby amended to read as follows:
b. No fewer than four times per year, [Whenever] the commissioner [has reason to believe that a violation of this subchapter or any rule or regulation has occurred, he or she] shall investigate the business premises of any person who sells or offers for sale gasoline or other petroleum products for use in motor vehicles or motor boats [be authorized to make such investigation as he or she shall deem necessary, and to the extent necessary for this purpose he or she] and may examine any person and [may] compel the production of all relevant records to the extent necessary to determine compliance with this subchapter or any rule or regulation promulgated thereunder.
§2. This local law shall take effect immediately.
