Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Chapter 1 of title 18 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 18-142 to read as follows: §18-142 Notification of tree removal. Not less than sixty days prior to the commencement of any project that may require the removal of five or more trees by any city agency or any entity acting pursuant to a contract with a city agency, such city agency shall notify of such removal all community boards and the district offices of all council members in which such trees to be removed are located. Such notification shall be by electronic or regular mail and shall include, but need not be limited to, the estimated number of trees to be removed and the dates of the expected removal of such trees. §2. This local law shall take effect immediately upon enactment. LF LS #1540 2/9/11
