Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Subchapter 3 of chapter 1 of title 19 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 19-189 to read as follows: § 19-189 Community board notification prior to installing traffic calming devices or traffic control signals or devices. a. For the purposes of this section, "traffic calming device" shall have the same meaning as in section 19-183 of this subchapter. b. Not less than forty-five days prior to the proposed installation or removal of a traffic calming device by the department or at the behest of the department, or prior to the undertaking of a study by the department or at the behest of the department to determine whether a traffic control signal or device would be warranted at a location pursuant to the manual on uniform traffic control signals or devices, the department shall notify via facsimile and electronic mail the respective community board or boards having jurisdiction of the location where such traffic calming device or traffic control signal or device is proposed to be installed. From the time of such notification to the time of such proposed installation or removal, such community board may provide comments regarding such proposed installation or removal to the department. § 2.
