Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Subdivision c of section 27-3017 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended to read as follows: c. Penalty. Any person, partnership or corporation who shall violate any of the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor punishable [by a fine of not less than five hundred dollars nor more than five thousand dollars for the first offense, not less than one thousand dollars nor more than five thousand dollars for the second offense, and not less than fifteen hundred dollars nor more than five thousand dollars for the third offense or any successive offense thereafter or by six months imprisonment or by both such fine and imprisonment] in accordance with chapter two of title 28 of this code. � 2. Item 13 of Section 28-201.2.1 of the administrative code of the city of New York as added by local law number 159 for the year 2016, is amended to read as follows: 13. A violation of any provision of chapter 4 of this title for engaging in any business or occupation without a required license or other authorization or a violation of section 27-3017 for performing electrical work without a required license. 13.1 The minimum civil penalty that shall be imposed for a violation of section 28-408.1 or section 28-410.1 of this code and the minimum fine that shall be imposed for a violation of such sections shall be [two thousand five hundred dollars] $2,500 for the first violation and [five thousand dollars] $5,000 for each subsequent violation. 13.2 The minimum civil penalty that shall be imposed for a violation of section 27-3017 of this code and the minimum fine that shall be imposed for a violation of such section shall be $4,800. The maximum fine that shall be imposed for a violation of such section shall be $25,000. Such violation may also be punished, in addition to or instead of such fine, by imprisonment of not more than one year. � 3. This local law takes effect 90 days after it becomes law, except that the commissioner of buildings may take all actions necessary for its implementation, including the promulgation of rules, before such effective date.
