Summary

This bill would remove the requirement that the early intervention program be administered by the Division of Mental Hygiene, a division within the Department of Health of Mental Hygiene, and would allow the commissioner of the Department of Mental Health and Hygiene to place the program in the newly created Division of Family and Child Health.

Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Paragraph 7 of subdivision b of section 556 of chapter 22 of the New York city charter, as added by a vote of the electors on November 6, 2001, is amended to read as follows: (7) administer [,within the division of mental hygiene,] the unit responsible for early intervention services pursuant to the public health law; and �2. This local law shall take effect immediately upon enactment. LS# 3514 KW 12/31/14
