Summary

This bill would require the Department of Consumer Affairs to issue an annual report analyzing the violations dismissed by its tribunal. The report would be required to include an analysis of trends and the characteristics of violations dismissed and reasons for dismissal and a comparison to previous reports issued pursuant to this law. Finally, it would be required to include planned actions that the Department will take to minimize the issuance of violations that are ultimately dismissed.

Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. The administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 20-119 to read as follows: � 20-119. Analysis of Tribunal Dismissals. The department shall issue a report by April 1 of each year analyzing the violations dismissed by the department's adjudication division, office, or tribunal during the prior calendar year. Such report shall include a cataloguing and analysis of the characteristics of the violations dismissed and the reasons for dismissal. Such report shall include an analysis of any trends observed in dismissals during the year of the report, as well as a comparison with any previous reports issued pursuant to this section. Such report shall include the department's planned actions to minimize the occurrence of issued violations being dismissed. Such report shall be sent to the speaker of the council, the public advocate, and the mayor. �2. This local law shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be deemed repealed on December 31, 2018. BG/RC/dss LS 2105/2014 5/28/15 2
