Summary

This bill would require the department of environmental protection to remove from public sidewalks any fire hydrant that has been inoperative for more than two years and for which no repairs are scheduled, as well as any fire hydrant that has been decommissioned with no planned reinstatement.

Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Chapter three of title 24 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 24-307.1 to read as follows: � 24-307.1 Inoperative or decommissioned fire hydrants. The commissioner shall remove from public sidewalks all fire hydrants that have been inoperative for more than two years, and for which no repairs are scheduled, and all decommissioned fire hydrants, for which no reinstatement plan exists. � 2.
