This bill would increase the threshold required to obtain public funding for candidates for the Council to $10,000 in matchable contributions (up from $5,000), including at least 150 contributions from residents of the applicable district (up from 75).

Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Subparagraph (iv) of paragraph (a) of subdivision 2 of section 3-703 of the administrative code of the city of New York, as amended by local law 67 for the year 2007, is amended to read as follows: (iv) member of the city council, not less than [five] ten thousand dollars in matchable contributions comprised of sums of up to one hundred seventy-five dollars per contributor including at least [seventy-five] one hundred fifty matchable contributions of ten dollars or more from residents of the district in which the seat is to be filled. � 2.
