Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Subchapter 1 of chapter 1 of title 19 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 19-160 to read as follows: � 19-160 Spray paint on sidewalks. a. Definitions. For purposes of this section, the term "street work" means any work to be performed in the street requiring a permit issued by the department pursuant to this subchapter and that causes spray paint markings on the sidewalk adjacent to such work. b. Any person who engages in street work shall, within seven days of completion of such work, remove from the sidewalk any spray paint markings made pursuant to such street work. c. Any person in violation of subdivision b of this section is liable for a civil penalty of not less than $50 nor more than $100. In addition to any such penalties, the commissioner may remove such spray paint markings at the expense of the person in violation of this section. � 2. This local law takes effect 30 days after it becomes law, except that the department shall take such measures as are necessary for the implementation of this local law, including the promulgation of rules, before such date.
