Summary

This bill would prohibit New York City from entering into contracts with entities that engage in immigration enforcement and penalize a person’s presence in, entry into, or reentry into the United States, where the City would be providing goods or services to such agencies in return for payment. The bill would also apply to current contracts.

Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Chapter 1 of Title 6 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 6-143 to read as follows: �6-143 City contracts with entities engaged in immigration enforcement. The city shall not provide a good or goods, or perform a service or services, in return for a fee or an in kind payment, to entities engaged in immigration enforcement, as defined in section 10-178. �2.
