Summary

This bill would require the New York City Board of Elections to request confirmation from poll workers who are assigned to work at a polling place on Election Day that the poll worker plans to be present at the assigned location. In addition, this bill would require the Board of Elections to take into account the poll workers who have responded that they are unable to work on Election Day in reallocating poll workers to polling places.

Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Chapter 46 of the New York city charter is amended by adding a new section 1057-g to read as follows: �1057-g. Requesting confirmation from poll workers. Prior to any election, the board of elections of the city of New York shall request from each poll worker who is assigned to work at a polling place for such election confirmation as to whether or not such poll worker will be present at the assigned polling place on election day. In reallocating poll workers to polling places, the board of elections of the city of New York shall take into account the number and assigned polling places of poll workers who have responded that they will not be present on election day. � 2. This local law takes effect 90 days after it becomes law. NAB LS #9144 1/30/19
