Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Section 528 of chapter 20 of the New York city charter, as amended by local law 36 for the year 2014, is amended by adding a new paragraph e to read as follows: e. Door alarm incident reporting. No later than September 1, 2021, and annually thereafter, the department of education shall submit to the speaker of the city council and post conspicuously on its website a report covering the prior 12-month period of the number of incidents in which door alarms installed pursuant to subdivision a of this section provided an audible alert indicating a departure from a school building. The number of incidents reported shall be disaggregated by month and by school and contain the reasons for each incident if known including, but not limited to: 1. Unauthorized student departure; 2. Authorized student departure due to an emergency evacuation, fire drill, or other authorization; 3. Departure by persons other than students, such as faculty or school staff; and 4.
