By Council Members Salamanca and Adams WHEREAS, the Landmarks Preservation Commission filed with the Council on September 9, 2019 a copy of its designation report dated October 29, 2019 (the "Designation"), designating the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Brooklyn Office, Shelter, and Garage Building located at 233 Butler Street (a/k/a 231-237 Butler Street), Community District 6, Borough of Brooklyn, as a landmark and Tax Map Block 405, p/o Lot 51, including a portion of the sidewalk in front of Lot 51, as its landmark site pursuant to Section 3020 of the New York City Charter; WHEREAS, the Designation is subject to review by the Council pursuant to Section 3020 of the New York City Charter and Section 25-303 of the Administrative Code of the City of New York; WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission submitted to the Council on December 20, 2019, its report on the Designation dated December 18, 2019 (the "Report"); WHEREAS, upon due notice, the Council held a public hearing on the Designation on January 14, 2020; and WHEREAS, the Council has considered the land use implications and other policy issues relating to the Designation. RESOLVED: Pursuant to Section 3020 of the City Charter and Section 25-303 of the Administrative Code of the City of New York, and on the basis of the information and materials contained in the Designation and the Report, the Council affirms the Designation.
