Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Article one of subchapter four of chapter two of title 27 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 27-2096.3 to read as follows: � 27-2096.3 Inspections for immediately hazardous and hazardous conditions. a. For any dwelling unit in a multiple dwelling for which a complaint was filed describing a condition that would constitute an immediately hazardous violation, the department shall contact the complainant within five hours of receiving such complaint to determine whether the condition described in the complaint requires further investigation or inspection. The department shall conduct an inspection of the dwelling no later than one day after receiving such complaint, provided that an inspection is warranted after responding to such complaint, and shall notify the complainant. b. For any dwelling unit in a multiple dwelling for which a complaint was filed describing a condition that would constitute a hazardous violation, the department shall contact the complainant within two days of receiving such complaint to determine whether the condition described in the complaint requires further investigation or inspection. The department shall conduct an inspection of the dwelling no later than one day after receiving such complaint, provided that an inspection is warranted after responding to such complaint, and shall notify the complainant. c. No violation issued pursuant to a complaint filed pursuant to this section shall be closed until such violation has been certified to be corrected to the satisfaction of the department. � 2. This local law takes effect 90 days after it becomes law, except that the commissioner of housing preservation and development may take such action as is necessary for its implementation, including the promulgation of rules, before such effective date.
