Summary

This bill would require the Emergency Management Department (NYCEM) to report on its response to COVID-19, initially and after any sustained increase over a period of two weeks in the number of COVID-19 cases in the City. The reports would include the efforts that NYCEM took and the planned efforts that NYCEM will take to respond to COVID-19. NYCEM would provide this information to the Mayor and the Speaker of the Council and post it online on its website.

Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Report. a. By no later than January 1, 2021, the commissioner of emergency management shall report to the mayor and the speaker of the council on the emergency management department's response to the 2019 novel coronavirus, COVID-19, and shall post such report on the emergency management department's website. The report shall include, but need not be limited to, the following: 1. The efforts that the emergency management department has taken in response to COVID-19; and 2. The efforts that the emergency management department plans to take in response to COVID-19. b. After the initial report required by subdivision a, the commissioner of emergency management shall continue to assess the emergency management department's COVID-19 response and provide an updated report to the mayor and the speaker of the council and post such report on the emergency management department's website no later than 30 days after any sustained increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the city over a period of two weeks. � 2. This local law takes effect immediately and remains in effect for 5 years, when it is deemed repealed. NLB LS #14566 6/1//20 1 1 2 2
