Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Subchapter 2 of chapter 1 of title 19 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 19-175.8 to read as follows: � 19-175.8 Parking permit enforcement unit. a. The department shall establish a parking permit enforcement unit, which shall consist of enforcement agents who are specially trained in local laws and rules related to improper use of city-issued parking permits. Such unit shall have the power and duty to: 1. Enforce all local laws and rules related to improper use of a parking permit; 2. Investigate complaints alleging improper use of a parking permit submitted to the 311 citizen center; and 3. Engage in such other activities related to enforcement of local laws and rules related to improper use of a parking permit, or related to improving compliance with such laws and rules. b. The parking permit enforcement unit shall be fully operational on or before the date six months following the effective date of the local law that added this section and shall commence enforcement activities on or before such date. The department may promulgate such rules as it deems necessary to implement the provisions of this section. � 2. This local law takes effect immediately. NAB LS #15426 8/12/20 5:50PM 1
