Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. The definition of "covered establishment" as set forth in subdivision a of section 17-199.18 of the administrative code of the city of New York, as amended by local law number 150 for the year 2023, is amended to read as follows: Covered establishment. The term "covered establishment" means any food service establishment inspected pursuant to the restaurant grading program established pursuant to subdivision a of section 81.51 of the New York City health code [that is part of a chain with 15 of more locations doing business under the same name and offering for sale substantially the same food items]. � 2. Chapter 1 of title 17 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 17.199.26 to read as follows: � 17.199.26 Sodium warnings. a. Definitions. For the purposes of this section, the term "restaurant" means any food service establishment inspected pursuant to the restaurant grading program established pursuant to subdivision (a) of section 81.51 of the New York city health code. b. All restaurants shall comply with the requirement to post sodium warning icons and statements set forth in subdivision (b) of section 81.49 of the New York city health code, regarding sodium warning, or a successor provision. A restaurant shall be subject to such requirement even if it is not a covered establishment as defined in section 81.49 of the New York city health code. c. Penalty. Any restaurant that violates subdivision b of this section shall be liable for a civil penalty of $200. d. Outreach. No later than 90 days after the effective date of the local law that added this section, the commissioner shall conduct outreach to educate restaurants about the requirements of this section. � 3.
