Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Section 17-1701 of the administrative code of the city of New York, as amended by local law number 132 for the year 2024, is amended by adding a new definition of "bird" in alphabetical order to read as follows: Bird. The term "bird" means any avian species typically kept as a pet or companion animal as defined in section 350 of article 26 of the agriculture and markets law, including, but not limited to, parrots, cockatiels, finches, parakeets, and macaws. � 2. Subdivision b of section 17-1702 of the administrative code of the city of New York, as amended by local law number 132 for the year 2024, is amended to read as follows: b. It shall be unlawful for any pet shop to display, offer for sale, deliver, barter, auction, give away, transfer, or sell any dog, cat, rabbit,[ or] guinea pig[.], or bird. � 3.
