Chapter 1 of Title 14 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 14-199 to read as follows: �14-199 Security details for threatened officials. a. Definitions. For purposes of this section, the following terms have the following meanings: Appointed official. The term "appointed official" means any person appointed by the mayor pursuant to section 6(a) of the charter. Credible threat. The term "credible threat" means a threat that, upon assessment by the police department, is determined to present a legitimate concern for the elected or appointed official's safety. Elected official. The term "elected official" means any individual elected to a city office pursuant to the charter, or any person appointed to fill a vacancy in such office. b. Security detail. Where the commissioner determines that a credible threat has been made against an elected or appointed city official, the commissioner shall provide a personal security detail to such official. c. Scope. The size, scope, and duration of the security detail shall be at the discretion of the commissioner. d. Declination.
