Int. No. 1054 By Council Members Salaam and Restler A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to requiring that officers fasten the safety belts of individuals in their custody during transportation Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Chapter 1 of title 14 of the administrative code has been amended by adding a new section 14-130.1 to read as follows: § 14-130.1. Safety belt requirement. Except for in an emergency situation, members of the uniformed force of the department shall fasten the safety belts of individuals within their custody prior to transportation if such safety belts are available and functional. § 2. Chapter 1 of title 9 of the administrative code has been amended by adding a new section 9-146.1 to read as follows: § 9-146.1. Safety belt requirement. Except for in an emergency situation, members of the uniformed force of the department shall fasten the safety belts of individuals within their custody prior to transportation if such safety belts are available and functional. § 3.
