No. 1006 By Council Members Maloney, Salaam, Epstein and Narcisse ..Title A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to cleaning requirements for cooling towers ..Body Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Subdivision d of section 17-194.1 of the administrative code of the city of New York, as added by local law number 77 of the year 2015, is amended to read as follows: d. Cleaning and disinfection [after extended shut-down]. At a minimum, an owner shall [clean]: 1. Clean and disinfect cooling towers that are shut-down for more than [five] 5 days. Cleaning and disinfection shall occur within 15 days before the use of such tower[.]; and 2. Clean and disinfect cooling towers at least 3 times a year, including at least 1 time in June or July. § 2. This local law takes effect immediately. NY LS #25214 8/5/2026 9:30 AM
