Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Subchapter 2 of chapter 1 of title 19 is amended by adding a new section 19-169.3 to read as follows: � 19-169.3 Parking; prohibition. a. No motor vehicle other than a passenger car, as defined in subdivision two of section 19-162.1 of this title, shall be permitted to park within fifteen feet of any street corner. This prohibition shall include, but not be limited to, buses, commercial vehicles and vans. For purposes of this section, in no event shall any passenger car exceed five feet in height. b. Exceptions. This section shall not apply to the following vehicles: 1. Authorized emergency vehicles including every police vehicle, fire vehicle, emergency ambulance service vehicle, and every other authorized emergency vehicle as defined in section 101 of the vehicle and traffic law; and 2. Vehicles registered in accordance with section 404-a of the vehicle and traffic law and being used for the transportation of handicapped persons, vehicles bearing valid New York city special parking identification permits, and vehicles bearing handicapped plates issued by New York state pursuant to sections 1203-a or 1203-b of the vehicle and traffic law. c. A violation of this section shall be punishable by the monetary fine authorized for violation of the rules and regulations of the commissioner in paragraph one of subdivision a of section twenty nine hundred and three of the New York city charter. �2.
