Be it enacted by the Council as Follows:
Section 1. Paragraphs (1) and (2) of subdivision (c) of Section 17-802 of the Administrative Code of the City of New York are hereby amended to read as follows:
(3) Full-service shelter shall mean a facility required to have a permit issued pursuant to subdivision (b) of Section 161.09 of the New York city health code that houses lost, stray or homeless animals and; (1) accepts dogs and cats [twenty-four] eight hours per day, seven days per week; (2) has an adoption program open [seven] five days a week, which shall include weekends; and
�2. Section 2 of Chapter 8 of Title 17 of the Administrative Code of the City of New York is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 2. This local law shall take effect one hundred eighty days after its enactment; provided, however, that Section 17-803 shall take effect January 1, 2001 with respect to the boroughs of Brooklyn, Manhattan and Staten Island; and provided further, that such section shall take effect July 1, [2002] 2006 with respect to the boroughs of the Bronx and Queens.
