Be it enacted by the Council as follows:
Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 19-162 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended to read as follows:
§19-162 Permissible parking for certain purposes. 1. Notwithstanding any local law or regulation to the contrary, but subject to the provisions of the vehicle and traffic law, it shall be permissible for a bus owned, used or hired by public or nonpublic schools to park at any time, including overnight, upon any street or roadway, provided [said] such bus occupies a parking spot in front of and within the building lines of the premises of the said public school or nonpublic school. Such bus shall also be permitted to park on residential streets during the hours of 7:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. on school days consistent with existing parking regulations and subject to the restrictions on idling pursuant to section 24-163 of this code. For the purpose of this subdivision, residential streets are defined as those streets, or parts thereof, which are located within a residential district under the zoning resolution.
§2. This local law shall take effect immediately.
