By Council Members Greenfield and Koo WHEREAS, the Landmarks Preservation Commission filed with the Council on December 2, 2016 a copy of its designation dated November 22, 2016 (the "Designation"), of the Beverly Hotel (now The Benjamin Hotel) located at 125 East 50th Street (a/k/a 125-129 East 50th Street and 557-565 Lexington Avenue), Community District 6, Borough of Manhattan, as a landmark and Tax Map Block 1305, Lot 20, as its landmark site pursuant to Section 3020 of the New York City Charter; WHEREAS, the Designation is subject to review by the Council pursuant to Section 3020 of the City Charter; WHEREAS, the New York City Planning Commission submitted to the Council on January 20, 2017, its report on the Designation dated January 18, 2017 (the "Report"); WHEREAS, upon due notice, the Council held a public hearing on the Designation on January 24, 2017; and WHEREAS, the Council has considered the land use implications and other policy issues relating to the Designation; RESOLVED: Pursuant to Section 3020 of the City Charter, and on the basis of the information and materials contained in the Designation and the Report, the Council affirms the Designation.
