Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Chapter 1 of title 14 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 14-118.3 to read as follows: � 14-118.3 Traffic enforcement agents near schools. a. Definitions. For the purposes of this section, the following terms have the following meanings: Traffic enforcement agent. The term "traffic enforcement agent" means an employee of the department who is authorized to enforce laws and regulations that regulate, direct, control or restrict the movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. School. The term "school" means any building, ground, facility, property or portion thereof in which educational instruction is provided to at least 250 students at or below the twelfth grade level. b. For each day on which school is in session, the commissioner shall deploy at least one traffic enforcement agent to direct traffic within 100 feet of every school for a period commencing two hours before the start of the school day and ending 30 minutes after the start of the school day, and a period commencing 30 minutes before the end of the school day and ending two hours after the end of the school day. � 2.
