Summary

This bill would require any for-hire vehicle dispatched by a high-volume for-hire service to conspicuously display a sign identifying the high-volume for-hire service. The sign would be required to be displayed at the time the passenger is picked up and for the duration of the trip.

Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Chapter 5 of title 19 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 19-554 to read as follows: � 19-554 Identification of high-volume for-hire service. Any vehicle dispatched by a high-volume for-hire service must have a conspicuous sign identifying the high-volume for-hire service dispatching such trip. Such sign must be displayed at the time a passenger is picked up and for the duration of a trip in at least one conspicuous location in or on the vehicle such that the name of the high-volume for-hire service is easily visible to a person standing outside the vehicle. The commission may by rule establish additional requirements relating to such signs and the display of such signs. � 2. This local law takes effect 90 days after it becomes law, except that the taxi and limousine commission shall take such measures as are necessary for the implementation of this local law, including the promulgation of rules, before such date.
