Official record · Legistar
Summary
The proposed legislation would require the Fire Department, in consultation with the Department of Citywide Administrative Services, to develop and implement a plan for ensuring that the racial, ethnic, and gender demographics of the Department’s firefighters reflect that of the City’s population as a whole. The Fire Department would also be required to post a report each year on its website that includes an overview of the Department’s efforts to recruit and retain female firefighters and firefighters of diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, including reference to all related budgetary expenditures for such efforts, and the projected increases in the percentage of female firefighters and firefighters of diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds within the Department following each of the upcoming three testing cycles.
