Summary

This bill would require the Department of Buildings to conduct targeted outreach to educate building owners about the benefits of installing solar and green roof systems. Educational materials shall be made available in plain English and all of the designated citywide languages and on the department’s website.

Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Chapter 1 of title 28 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 28-103.37 to read as follows: � 28-103.37 Education and outreach on solar and green roof systems. No later than January 31, 2024, and annually for five years thereafter, the department shall conduct targeted outreach to educate building owners about the benefits of installing solar and green roof systems. Educational materials distributed pursuant to this section shall be in plain language and made available in all of the designated citywide languages, as defined in section 23-1101 of this code. Such educational materials shall also be available on the department's website. � 2. This local law takes effect immediately.
