Summary

This bill would require the Office to End Gender-Based Violence (ENDGBV) to create posters that includes information about gender-based violence services available in the city and to provide such posters to hair, nail, and skincare salons at no cost. This bill would also require hair, nail, and skincare salons to display such posters.

Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Section 3-182 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding new subdivisions d and e to read as follows: d. The office shall create a poster that includes information regarding services available in the city to address gender-based violence, including, but not limited to, free hotline services. Such poster shall be provided to cosmetology establishments at no cost and shall be made available in each of the designated citywide languages, as such term is defined in section 23-1101. The office shall provide minimum requirements for cosmetology establishments that choose to design and print their own poster. e. Every cosmetology establishment shall post in a conspicuous place, easily visible to all customers, a poster created pursuant to subdivision d of this section in a language of their choice. � 2. This local law takes effect 90 days after it becomes law, except that subdivision e of section 3-182 of the administrative code of the city of New York, as added by section 1 of this local law, takes effect 180 days after it becomes law.
