This bill would require DSNY, upon receiving 7 or more credible complaints of dog waste on the same city block within a 7-day period, to dispatch employees within 14 days to evaluate the block and enforce, as appropriate, state and local prohibitions against animal waste in public spaces.

A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to dog waste complaints

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:
Section 1. Chapter 1 of title 16 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 16-146 to read as follows:
§ 16-146 Dog waste complaints. No later than 14 days after the department receives 7 or more credible complaints of dog waste on the same city block within a 7-day period, the commissioner shall dispatch employees of the department to evaluate the conditions on such block and enforce section 161.03 of the health code and section 1310 of the public health law as appropriate.
§ 2. This local law takes effect immediately.
