Int. No. 1016 By Council Members Schulman, Epstein, Abreu and Maloney A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to establishing a Legionnaires’ disease hotline Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Chapter 1 of title 17 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 17-194.2 to read as follows: § 17-194.2 Legionnaires’ disease hotline. a. Definitions. For the purposes of this section, the term “healthcare provider” means an individual duly licensed or otherwise authorized to practice a health profession pursuant to applicable law, such as a physician, registered professional nurse, nurse practitioner, and physician assistant. b. Hotline. The commissioner shall establish and maintain a hotline for the public to request information about Legionnaires’ disease and disease outbreaks. The commissioner shall make the hotline available during the summer months and when Legionnaires’ outbreaks occur. The hotline shall have healthcare providers available to respond to calls when appropriate and shall provide callers with medical and public health information relating to Legionnaire’s disease, resources and referrals to medical guidance and care. § 2.
