Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Subdivisions a through k of Section 25.303 are hereby relettered as subdivisions b through l, and a new subdivision a is added, to read as follows: a. For the purpose of effecting and furthering the protection, preservation, enhancement, perpetuation and use of landmarks, interior landmarks, scenic landmarks and historic districts, the commission shall establish and maintain a survey division with staff who shall have the responsibility to conduct periodic and ongoing assessments of improvements, exterior architectural features, interiors, interior architectural features, landscape features or other features or improvements which have a special character or special historical or aesthetic interest or value or represent one or more periods or styles of architecture typical or one or more eras in the history of the city, and to recommend to the commission designations of landmarks, interior landmarks, scenic landmarks and historic districts based on such assessments. §2.
