Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Chapter one of title 15 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 15-129 to read as follows: § 15-129. Firehouse and emergency medical service station emergency power. a. By January 1, 2009, all firehouses and emergency medical service stations shall be equipped with an emergency power source sufficient to operate essential equipment for at least forty-eight hours. b. Such emergency power sources shall be inspected and tested monthly, including, when practicable, testing under loss of power conditions. c. The fire commissioner shall issue a report to the council and the mayor every six months, commencing six months from the effective date of the local law that added this section, that indicates which firehouses and emergency medical service stations are in compliance with this section and the status of those that are not in compliance. §2. This local law shall take effect immediately. LS#683 RCC 8/08/2006
