Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Subchapter 7 of chapter 2 of title 20 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 20-229.1 to read as follows: § 20-229.1 Notice. Within five business days of approving a newsstand license, the commissioner shall notify the affected community board and council member within whose respective district a newsstand shall be located. §2. Subdivision a of section 20-231 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended to read as follows: a. 1. No newsstand shall be within three feet of private property without the consent of the owner of that property. 2. No newsstand applying for a new license on or after March 1, 2012 shall be within twenty-five feet of any existing newsstand. §3. This local law shall take effect immediately upon its enactment.
