Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Chapter 1 of Title 14 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 14-173 to read as follows: � 14-173 Victim access to police reports. The department shall provide any person identified as a complainant in any written report in the custody of the department with a copy of such reports, upon request, at no cost. If requested, such reports shall be provided in electronic format. The department may deny access to such reports where such access would interfere with an ongoing investigation or pose a legitimate risk to public safety. � 2. This local law takes effect 120 days after it becomes law. LS #1458 BC 3/19/18
