Summary

This bill would require the Department of Environmental Protection to provide notice to Council Members before DEP installs a bioswale in such Council Members’ districts. A bioswale, otherwise known as a “rain garden” is a form of green infrastructure where areas of sidewalks have planted areas that are designed to collect and manage storm water runoff.

Be it enacted by the Council as follows: Section 1. Section 24-526.1 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new subdivision g to read as follows: g. No later than 30 days prior to the installation of any bioretention system on any sidewalk, the department shall provide electronic notice to the council member in whose district such installation shall occur. � 2.
